Girl We Love: Chyn Crisostomo

Fun fact about you

I won Cebu Pacific’s Juan-For-Fun Challenge 2017, which gave me unlimited flights to all their local and international short-haul destinations for an entire year. This allowed me to travel a lot FOR FREE! It was definitely an experience of a lifetime.

What do you like most about traveling?

While I was traveling, I discovered new places, met new faces, and experienced different cultures. It really broadened my perspective and that’s what I like most about it. Traveling helps open your mind. You can’t imagine how different life is in another place until you see and experience it for yourself. You then realize that there’s really no one way to live life.

All the new places, people, and cultures you’ve been exposed to will give you fresh ideas you’d never thought you’d consider, and a whole wider perspective. You come home a different, better person each time.

What do you do when you're not traveling?

Studying! Hahaha. I am still in university, currently taking up Manufacturing Engineering and Management in DLSU. It was really a challenge for me to balance both my studies and traveling, since I was still in my 3rd year when I won my free flights. I would usually be in school for 4 days and fly to somewhere else during the weekend. I became the ultimate jet-setter for an entire year!

Any surprising things you bring with you when you travel?

My home work and school notes! Hahaha. I would usually do my home works or study for my quizzes while in transit, like during flights or long bus rides. I was the only backpacker/traveler bringing school stuff! People would look at me and I could see the confusion on their faces.

Oh and I always bring a facemask with me whenever I travel. It was my way of making up for all the loss sleep and travel stress I put my skin through. #skincareislife!

What's the last trip you took?

I went to UAE with my dad and my younger sister. We visited Dubai and Abu Dhabi. It was my first time to travel outside of Asia and the Middle East was really something else! It was nice to have a change of scenery and take a break from the tropical views I was used to.

Favorite hotel/accommodation you've stayed at:

I stayed at hostels most of the time because I usually traveled alone. My friends and I also stay in hostels whenever we travel because it gives us a lot of opportunity to make friends and to meet fellow travelers. The best hostel that I’ve stayed at was Bon Hostel in Osaka, Japan. It was really great for its price, and it had everything you need – great location, comfy bed, clean restrooms, friendly staff. I would definitely stay there again the next time I visit Osaka.

What's the one place you keep going back to?

Definitely Bali! I’ve been to the island thrice during my free flights, and it’s actually one of the best places I’ve visited. The unique Hindu culture is really interesting and the place is literally “the island of the gods.” It’s just so beautiful, especially for nature lovers like me. World class beaches, lit party places, magnificent temples, breathtaking waterfalls, and great food – BALI. HAS. EVERYTHING.

Top 3 places on your must-visit list:

Top 3 places that I’ve already visited would be Batanes, Bali, and Japan. Top 3 places that I’d really want to visit are Iceland, New Zealand, and Jordan.

What do you like most about Wink?

Customer service! Wink definitely has the BEST customer service out of all the beauty/skin clinics I’ve visited. You could also tell that all their staff are qualified and properly trained. Plus they’re so accommodating and friendly!

How does Wink help you with your travels?

Wink saves me the time worrying about my skin and unwanted hair! Before, I would usually set a waxing and/or facial appointment prior to traveling, which I must say, was kind of a hassle in the long run tbh. Now thanks to Wink, I’m always travel ready, and I can allocate more of my time in planning my itinerary and I never have to worry again. One of the best decisions I’ve made was to trust Wink ;)
