How To Take Your Pets On The Best Beach Vacation Ever

If you're thinking of taking your beloved pet to the beach, you'll want to plan ahead.

Follow Ayla and her dog Ami’s wonderful travel stories and get essential tips, as shared by dog mom Ayla, on what you need to consider when bringing your pup with you on vacation.

How did traveling with your dog change the way you travel?

Not much has changed, really. We mostly bring him to the beach and on boat rides, which he loves. If its a new place we make sure it’s pet-friendly first. The great thing about living in Cebu, is that we can take Ro-Ro's to neighboring islands, so it’s pretty easy to bring Ami along.

He is like a child though, where we have to make sure we take stops if its a long car ride because he gets dizzy sometimes. Make sure he has water and maybe a treat. He has his own tote bag of things haha (favorite ball, his stuffed toy that he loves to sleep with, his towel, life vest).

What is the best thing about traveling with Ami?

He's our best friend apart from being our "child", what could be better than getting to share those adventures with him. He is also a goofball and so active, so he keeps up on our toes with endless laughs. He is the perfect companion for us, because of his size, he is so easy to bring along, and absolutely loves the water and adventures. As soon as we get on a paddleboard, he jumps right up to the front.

Any valuable lessons learned through your new travel experiences?

Be in the moment, improvise if you have to, and just go along with it. It's all part of the adventure.

Can you give us some tips and travel hacks for those traveling with pets?

As I mentioned earlier, RoRo is a great way to travel with your pets! They can sit right beside you in the car, without being caged in. Just double-check beforehand if you need to get a pet clearance from the city vet. Some require while some do not depend on which island you are headed to. If your dog gets dizzy in the car, always have a plastic bag ready in case they puke. Ami used to when he was younger, but we learned that taking a pit stop helps him a lot, also for pee breaks to avoid any accidents.

Share a place you and Ami would be visiting once it's safe to travel again.

We’ll be visiting our home at the beach, at Moalboal, Ami's favorite place and is ours too. We also want to finally bring him to our family farm in Bohol to meet the horses and pigs.

We can’t wait to get you ready on your next adventure, once our doors reopen! What are you most looking forward to on your next Wink visit?

Once it’s safe to go out again, I’m looking forward to a nice facial at Wink Laser Studio! It would be absolutely lovely to revitalize my skin, and get a hair removal treatment!
