Going Places With Chloe Magpayo
Chloe explores her favorite places and takes us on happy adventures at the beach and in the city.🌅🌆
TELL US A LITTLE SOMETHING ABOUT YOURSELF.
Hi, Wink!👋 I’m Chloe and I’m the Chief Communications Officer at Musae Collective, an international female-founded creative branding agency. I also work as an assistant buyer at Univers, Homme et Femme, Off-White, and Buly!✨
A little bit about me – I’m a clumsy type-A Cancer ♋ with a penchant for “sad girl bops”, film photos, gallery crawls, heavy action movies (though I do enjoy romance movies here and there), and all things Harry Potter. I’m also the biggest stage (dog) mom for my Cavapoo, Lily. The best way to make me happy? - going to the beach.☀️
TAKE US TO YOUR FAVORITE PLACE.
Destination: Boracay, Philippines 🇵🇭 and New York, USA 🇺🇸
Where to go:
Boracay: Diniwid Beach (pro tip - walk along the shore until you reach the cave area), Station 3 Secret Beach, Bulabog Area (for food, water activities, and the beach!)
New York: The Whitney, High Line, Silverlens New York, Midtown East Greenacre Park, Jimmy at The James
What to do:
Boracay: Sunset Paraw (with a bottle or two or three? - stop by Ralph’s and store it in a tote bag and don’t forget your film cam!📸), Private snorkeling first thing in the morning (try to ask the Paraw guys if they offer this- always cheaper!), cafe hopping (must try - Blackfish Coffee Bar), and happy hour at Aplaya (buy 1 get 1).
New York: Watch an ABT (American Ballet Theatre) performance, Have a picnic at Central Park or Bryant Park (and maybe tan a bit - if it’s summer), Bar hop in the East Village (there’s always a pop-punk or throwback night somewhere), Catch a Broadway or Off-Broadway show (always always always check TKTS for the best deals on tickets!)
Where to eat:
Boracay: Two Brown Boys (pro tip - get the amaretto sour), Lazy Dog B&B, DiniBeach Bar & Restaurant, Dos Mestizos, Cafe Maruja
New York: Cafeteria, Raclette, Mama Fina’s (the best Sisig I have ever had in my entire life), Grimaldi’s, By Chloe, Dos Caminos, Egg Shop NYC, La Pecora Bianca, Levain Bakery
Where to stay:
Boracay: Any hotel in station 1 or 2 areas is great! Of course, the beachfront is always lovely but there are a lot of hidden gems along the back roads for amazing prices! I also will always recommend Feliz hotel (located inside D’Mall) for the ambiance, rooftop pool, and A+ Spanish restaurant.💃
New York: I 100% recommend finding a place on Airbnb, depending on your budget there are so many to choose from and in every borough too! I’ve stayed in Airbnb’s in both Manhattan and Brooklyn and do not regret the decision at all. You can even find affordable apartments with washers/dryers included so you don’t have to drag your laundry through a walkup! If Manhattan, I always recommend either the East Village, Hell’s Kitchen, or the Upper East Side!
Must-have adventure staple: A power bank and Wink’s laser hair removal! You never know what situation will arise and it's always best to be as prepared as possible.✨
ON THE HORIZON
You need some rest and relaxation, where would you go next:
Siargao! I was supposed to go early this year, but the typhoon changed our plans and we ended up switching our destination to Boracay (where we made the best memories!🤍). While it was still an amazing trip, I’m still dreaming of going to Siargao, maybe sometime next year once I’m able to slot some time in between work.
