The Do's and Don’ts of Traveling with Pets According to Celine
So, you’re thinking of taking your fur baby along for your next trip? We get it—who wants to leave their loyal sidekick behind when there’s an adventure to be had? But before you start packing up their tiny suitcase (yes, we’re sure they have one 😉), there are a few things you need to know to make the whole travel experience a little less stressful for both of you. And lucky for you, Celine—your go-to expert on all things travel and pet—has some tips to keep you and your furry friend traveling in style and comfort.🐾
Hi, Celine! Tell us more about yourself.
Hi I'm Celine! I am a fashion enthusiast, self proclaimed "corgi mom", and lover of the great outdoors.
After graduating from Ateneo just over a year ago, I was certain I wanted a career in fashion—a passion of mine since I was six. From playing dress-up in preschool to now collaborating with international brands like Marc Jacobs, Boggi Milano, and Zegna, I’ve come a long way in bringing my childhood dream to life.
Outside of work, I love spending my time practicing yoga and pilates, playing pickleball, tennis, and golf. When I’m not active, I enjoy traveling and relaxing at the beach. Most of my days, I am hanging out with my friends, having dinner with my family, and walking my dogs in the afternoon. I’m big on spending quality time with my loved ones which (obviously) includes my pets.
I am a proud "corgi mom" to Polo, a seven year-old corgi and my best friend. I adopted Polo during the pandemic when he was three and in need of a new home. I think it was fate that brought us together, owning a corgi had always been my dream. Just last year, our family grew and welcomed two more corgi siblings, Split and Lily. Just like me, my pets love exploring nature and traveling, so I bring them along whenever I can.
What’s your favorite travel destination that’s pet-friendly and perfect for adventure?
For me, it's got to be the beach. One of the best perks of living in a tropical country is the year-round beach weather. I usually take my dogs to a quiet beach in Nasugbu, Batangas, where they are free to explore and swim. We walk along the sand, go for a swim by the shore, snack by the ocean and soak up the sun. People are usually surprised that Polo actually swims, he loves it!
Fun fact: a corgi's bum floats in the water which makes it easier for them to swim.
What are your do’s and don’ts for making the most of your adventures while traveling with pets?
Do: Stay hydrated (both you and your pets!)
Bringing a water jug is an essential for me whenever I'm on the go, so it's just as important that my dog has one too. Make sure your pet stays hydrated with their own portable water jug so they have access to fresh, clean water. It helps keep them energized for a more enjoyable adventure.
Don't: Go to a place with your pets without doing proper research.
It's always good to verify if your destination welcomes pets. I learned this the hard way, there have been many instances where my pet and I had to leave. Calling ahead or a simple google search will save you a lot of time and ensure a better experience.
Do: Pack snacks for you and your pets!
My dogs love their snacks as much as I do. Traveling can get tiring so bringing a few treats keeps them energized throughout the day.
Don't: Assume all pets are the same
Every pet has their own personality. Polo loves to swim in the ocean while Split is a bit shy and prefers to stay on dry land. It's all about paying attention to their personalities and comfort levels, and adapting your plans accordingly.
