How to Enjoy a Laid-Back European Summer According to Nash Paz

Nash's got the essential European Summer guide you wouldn't want to miss out on! Let her show you how to explore Europe in style, uncover hidden gems, and make the most of your dream destinations. ✨🌍

Hi, Nash! Would you mind sharing a bit about yourself?

Hi! I'm Nash, short for Natasha. I graduated from Ateneo with a degree in Environmental Science and just last year, I finished law school and passed the Bar Exams.

My passion for the environment is actually what led me to pursue a career in law, since I felt that it would be the most effective and impactful way for me to contribute to protecting the planet.

Currently, I work as an energy lawyer, focusing on developing and implementing policies for the country’s transition to renewable energy. When I’m not in the office, I’m usually enjoying alone time under the sun, going for a walk, taking photos, making pinterest boards while listening to music, rewatching my favorite shows and movies, or just spending time with my loved ones.

The best places to visit in Europe in summer?

It was actually my first time in Europe! We traveled around the Mediterranean and I was able to visit Greece, Montenegro, Italy, and Spain. It felt like the perfect “Mamma Mia” summer and I would definitely recommend all those places if you love stunning natural landscapes, history, picturesque towns, and great food (with the freshest ingredients). I feel so blessed to have experienced it and would love to go back.

What are your top tips for exploring summer destinations in Europe?

• Do your research. Europe has so much to offer and it can be difficult to check-off everything you want to do from your list, especially if you aren’t visiting for very long. Knowing the best/worst times to visit specific sites allows you to maximize your limited time, giving you some room to wander around and discover hidden gems

• Enjoy the outdoors. One of the things I loved most about Europe was all the outdoor spaces, which Manila just doesn’t have enough of. I especially enjoyed dining al fresco whether surrounded by sea views or in the middle of town. You get to enjoy the fresh air, listen to the music of street-performers, interact with locals, or just people-watch. It’s a great way to immerse yourself and appreciate the local charm.

• Take lots of pictures. I find that it’s a good exercise in gratitude because it helps me to see beauty in the mundane and really appreciate my surroundings. As a sentimental person, documenting everything also allows me to look back on these memories and gives me something that I get to keep forever. I really don't believe that it takes away from living in the moment.

Share your essentials for traveling to Europe during summer.

• Thin lightweight clothes — the heatwave is no joke

• Booking self-care appointments the week before the trip is an absolute must for me, like my laser treatment at Wink, a mani-pedi, and getting my lashes done.

• Airalo eSIMs, it’s the most convenient way to have data abroad and the app is so easy to use. No need to purchase anything at the airport or bring pocket wifi!
