Chasing Firsts: Sofia’s Take on Trying New Adventures

Chasing Firsts: Sofia’s Take on Trying New Adventures

There’s something about firsts that never loses its thrill. The first flight. The first marathon. The first time you say yes to something unfamiliar. For Sofia, each one marks not just a milestone—but a reminder of how far confidence can take you. Between chasing sunsets, exploring new cities, and crossing finish lines, she’s learned that adventure isn’t always about the destination. Sometimes, it’s about the courage to start—and the confidence that grows with every brave new first.

For everyone tuning in—who is Sofia when she’s not on the beach, out of the country, or crossing finish lines?

I’m someone who loves chasing both big adventures and the small moments that keep me grounded. Outside of traveling or running, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, discovering new cafes around the city, or relaxing with my comfort food and a good series. Most days, I’m working from home, juggling to-do lists, emails, and calls with coffee always nearby.

Do you still remember your very first flight? How did it feel knowing you were 30,000 ft up in the air?

I remember feeling excited for my first flight. The idea of being so high up in the air felt a little scary at first, but once we took off, the nerves quickly faded. Looking out the window and seeing the world from above made me realize how much more there was to explore. I was much younger back then, but it felt like the start of a lifetime of firsts and adventures waiting for me.

Before every new trip or adventure, what’s your version of a non-negotiable ‘confidence hack’ (aka the thing that makes you feel ready for anything)?

For me, it’s always preparation. I set up my itinerary, double-check that my essentials are packed, and make sure I have what I need to feel comfortable. I’ve learned that when I’m prepared, I can approach any new adventure with confidence.

Now you’re adding another “first” with Wink’s laser hair removal. How does this new adventure compare to the other hair removal methods you’ve tried?

Wink’s laser hair removal feels like a first worth investing in. Unlike shaving or waxing, where I constantly had to think about regrowth, discomfort, or timing, laser hair removal takes that worry away. I’m really looking forward to making it part of my everyday adventures because it adds so much convenience, and that gives me more freedom to focus on the things I enjoy.

You’ve also conquered your first marathon. How did crossing that finish line feel, and what did it teach you about yourself?

Crossing the finish line of my first marathon was a moment I’ll never forget. I felt an overwhelming mix of relief, pride, and joy, knowing that months of early mornings, discipline, and pushing past self-doubt had led me there. I wasn’t very athletic growing up, and the journey wasn’t perfect, but conquering the race proved to me that I’m capable of more than I ever imagined. That finish line showed me that I can do hard things, that persistence pays off, and that growth truly happens one step at a time.

If you had to share one rule for braving firsts—whether in travel or running—what would it be?

Don’t let the fear of the unknown stop you. Every ‘first’ comes with nerves, but that’s also what makes it exciting. I always tell myself to prepare as much as I can, while also leaving space to enjoy the moment. Once you take that first step, whether it’s flying somewhere new or trying something that makes future travels even better—like Wink’s laser hair removal—you realize it’s not as scary as it seems. Every time you brave something for the first time, you come out stronger, more confident, and better than before.
