Hi, I'm Mia, but my friends call me Mimi. I'm 24 years old and passionate about the great outdoors! Whether it's running on the road, hiking in the mountains, or freediving in the sea, I always find time to immerse myself in nature with loved ones. When not exploring the outdoors, I work in HOPE under the Aling Tindera program that aims to empower women micro-entrepreneurs to manage their own plastic waste-to-cash collection stations. How do you plan your first hiking trip with friends? What are your top 3 tips?

• Pick a mountain you want to hike that matches your fitness level, time commitment, and experience. Factors such as location, distance, difficulty, and hours to reach the summit are a few things to consider when planning.

• Watch YouTube videos and read up on the experiences of people who hiked your desired mountain. This can help you better manage your expectations on the day of your hike + give you inspiration on possible photo opportunities hehe!

• Always check the weather forecast of the area you'll be hiking in so that you can pack the appropriate clothing and gear and make informed decisions about whether to proceed with your plans in the first place. Safety comes first always!

 

What are your 3 must-haves for a stress-free, enjoyable hiking experience?

• Comfortable and durable footwear with good support, traction, and cushioning to prevent injuries and enhance comfort. 2 years & 15 mountains later, I'm still using the same pair of hiking shoes.🥾

• Sufficient supply of water and snacks like trail mix, energy bars, and candy to maintain energy levels throughout the hike. As someone with a sweet tooth, sourworm gummies are my favorite!🍬

• Wink's laser treatment, a week before my scheduled hike helps me feel at my most comfortable and confident when venturing into the outdoors.☀️
