Multicolored glass fill up the shores of Glass Beach, but it was not always like this. Clusters of trash being dumped by local residents for years were eventually pounded into the sand by the surf and the tides, washing away debris and broken pieces and leaving smooth, beautiful glass pieces behind.

Change is constant on this beach for its slim and narrow marine tongue changes its shape along with the winds and the water currents. This area is a favorite among surfers and tourists around the globe.

The pictures do not lie-- Punaluu’s black sands are naturally gorgeous! Not only is its color unique, but tourists are also greeted by the occasional Hawksbill turtles and green turtles basking under the sun like them. It is a great place for a swim, snorkeling session, or even a simple picnic.
